Army takes M4 contract from Remington and awards FN

Man I wish I could just get one....
After Colt's protest and the GAO ruling, the Army has re-awarded its M4 contract to FN, in a move I'm sure Remington is none too happy about. The initial choice of Remington was a little bit of a head scratcher for lots of people, but I'm sure when it came down to it, it was mostly about money. FN has been supplying our military with top-tier weapons for years and these are sure to be no different.

What this means is 120,000 M4A1's will be made by Columbia, SC based FNH-USA (an hour drive from me!). This batch of M4's will employ a heavier profile barrel and full-auto sear, ditching the 3 round burst option. FN has already been supplying the military with M16A4's, now adding the M4A1 to its arsenal.

On a side note, this makes me like my FNS-9 just a little bit more.......

Be safe and see you next time.
